This comes from a small family estate in the southwest of France, which has been in the hands of the Barre family since 1850. An unoaked blend of Tannat, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinenc grape varieties, it is a pure expression of the Madiran terroir. Deep and dark in the glass, it has earthy aromas of blackcurrant, prune, liquorice and coffee. Complex layers of black fruit flavours with an unmistakable mint and herbal garrigue character, all held together by grippy tannins and fine acidity. An ideal food match for gamey or mushroom dishes.
