We asked the question on our social media, "What are some of the barriers to people who want to get started in rug hooking?" Many of the answers surrounded cost, so we decided we would offer an essential tool kit with a very affordable price point to help alleviate this issue. This kit also makes a great travel set for hooking in the car and packing in your trip tote.
These three items, plus materials you already have at home or can easily acquire (yarn, tee shirt material, reclaimed wool, sari silk, ribbon, and more), will get you started! You can draw your own pattern on the foundation with a Sharpie - basic geometrics and abstracts are a great starting point - and use this experience as your introduction to rug hooking. You may want more advanced tools in the future, or, you may enjoy the craft just this way.
Hoop and hook can be used for any future pattern you may want to hook.
